Aboriginal Artists Visit SAS

Yesterday, some of the grade 4 and 5 students here at SAS were lucky enough to meet two artists from Warlukurlangu community in central Australia. Judy Napangardi Watson and Alma Nungarrayi Granites traveled to Singapore with the manager of the Warlukurlangu artist’s centre, Cecilia Alfonso. They are in town for an exhibition at the REDOT Gallery. Students got to hear the songs and stories of these artists as well as see some of their original paintings. We were very happy to see Alma Nungarrayi Granites again. On a previous visit to the school she painted the first panel of our Art History Mural that now runs along the hall outside the art rooms. We are very thankful to the people at the REDOT gallery for continuing to provide opportunities for our students to meet these inspiring artists.
