This week we have been very lucky to have another visiting artist. This is no ordinary artist. Chelsea Fairclough is a grade nine student here at SAS who is spending her Interim Semester with me in the art room. Chelsea is a successful artist who had her own solo exhibition last year at the Red Dot Gallery. Pretty amazing for a student who was in grade eight at the time. Even more amazing when you take into account the fact that Chelsea is quadriplegic. She has been sharing her unique ‘wheelie art’ with my students all week. I will have lots more to share tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait to share what we did today with a couple of grade three classes and one kindergarten class. It was so much fun! The kids loved the experience and it was great to have so many people take part in a wonderful collaboration. Thanks to Erin Caskey for the great video below. Thanks also to the wonderful staff who cleaned up our beautiful mess when we were done. I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow.
